ARLINGTON, Texas — Brian Daboll was angry, so much so that he apologized for expressing his emotion to those in attendance for his post-game news conference when it was over.
This, Daboll admitted, was a tough game to lose following Thursday’s 28-20 defeat to the Cowboys, and as is his customary line, you expected the next words out of his mouth to be something about how all losses are.
But this one was different for the New York Giants, in part because they knew they’d given so much of themselves on a short week to overcome their worst game of the season, to give themselves a chance to beat an opponent that has had the franchise’s number for a while now.
That opponent has much more talent in key spots, and had no problem strutting into AT&T Stadium as if it were the peacock of the NFC following its blowout win over Minnesota, ready to put a whooping on the reeling Giants.

The Thanksgiving showdown did not unfold that way, however. The Giants were scrappy and they fought despite playing without three starters on their offensive line and a fourth in left tackle Andrew Thomas was scuffling while gutting through a performance before which he was listed as questionable with an illness coming in.
Against Dak Prescott and his top two receivers, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, the Giants were down their top two cornerbacks – Adoree’ Jackson (knee) and Fabian Moreau (oblique) – yet this was not a game for excuses.
The fiery frustration from Daboll and some of the Giants was born from the inability to close out a victory they certainly could have gotten, had they made a handful of plays that should have turned this one in their favor.
“It’s a tough loss. It’s a divisional game and a game where we didn’t play our best. That’s always disappointing,” quarterback Daniel Jones said. “You’ve got to give credit to Dallas. They’re a good team. But we…
