Word on Sunday morning was that Mac Jones would get the start at quarterback for the Patriots against the Giants and that was proven correct when the Patriots took over after a Giants turnover in the first quarter.
Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito lost the ball on an attempted handoff and the ball was recovered by former Giant and current Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers. Rhamondre Stevenson picked up eight yards on two running plays, but a delay of game penalty and an incompletion led to a punt.
DeVito moved the ball into Patriots territory on a 29-yard completion to fellow rookie Jalin Hyatt and the Giants also got a 14-yard run from Saquon Barkley on their opening possession.
They’ll try for the same kind of success without the turnover on their next one.
