Bears conduct 6th interview for offensive coordinator position. Here’s the full list of candidates originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The Chicago Bears fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and five other coaches just weeks ago, but so far they’ve reportedly cast a wide net in their search for a new leader.
According to reports, the Bears have interviewed at least six candidates for the position since Getsy’s dismissal.
Brown, 37, previously spent three years on Sean McVay’s staff with the Los Angeles Rams before becoming the Panthers’ offensive coordinator this season under head coach Frank Reich.
Brown was dealt a tough hand during his lone season in Carolina. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young struggled from start to finish, the Panthers had the worst skill group in the NFL, and their offensive line failed to keep Young clean.
Brown also didn’t start the season as the Panthers’ play-caller. Reich called the plays for the first six games before handing the duties over to Brown after the Panthers’ 0-6 start. Reich took back the duties less than a month later after the Panthers’ Week 10 loss to the Bears at Soldier Field. Brown resumed play-calling duties after Reich was dismissed as head coach two weeks later.
He was ranked as the No. 2 offensive coordinator in the end-of-season NFL Players Association survey, which says his players still believed in him and what he was doing despite the rocky season.
Brown is also slated to interview for the Tennessee Titans’ open head coaching position.
Greg Roman – Former Ravens offensive coordinator
Roman served as the coordinator for the Ravens for four seasons, including the 2019 campaign, where quarterback Lamar Jackson won NFL MVP honors. Jackson posted a 13-2 record while completing 66.1% of his passes, throwing for 36 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Importantly, Jackson also rushed for a career-high 1,206 yards in that season, going along with the pattern of Roman offenses being heavily run-oriented, according to NBC…
