Kliff Kingsbury withdraws himself from consideration for Raiders’ OC job

In a turn of events, the next offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders will not be Kliff Kingsbury, after the former Cardinals head coach and USC senior offensive analyst withdrew himself from consideration for the job, per his agent.

He’s now the leading candidate for the same position with the Commanders.

Contract talks between Kingsbury and the Radiers organization broke down sometime Thursday, per ESPN, after the 44-year-old veteran coach was told he was expected to be hired under newly minted head coach Antonio Pierce, whose interim tag was removed on Jan. 19.

Kingsbury was one of just four candidates who had been interviewed for that position, along with former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, former Steelers quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan and former Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, who has since been hired by the Patriots for the same position.
