JOSON FITZ: Jason Fitz inside the Yahoo Sportsbook at the Venetian Resort, Las Vegas. There’s a great conversation going on right now about exactly who Brock Purdy is, but part of that conversation has to be about his intelligence. That’s something our own Jori Epstein checked in with the team about on Tuesday.

JORI EPSTEIN: I talked to Brock Purdy today about what Kyle Shanahan wants out of him because his coach, Clay Kubiak, told me that Kyle Shanahan wants a quarterback who can process a lot of information all at once and not be slowed down about it. I talked to Brock, and Brock told me that for every play he makes, he pretty much has two play calls he’s giving his teammates, then he’s diagnosing the defenses and really quickly deciding which of those play calls is the one that he should go with.

He gave me an example of a time in a playoff game where Kyle Juszczyk said, hey, I think we need the motion over here. And he said, no, we don’t. Stay put. Christian McCaffrey made a cut, and he had the touchdown. Now Brock Purdy went from Mr. Irrelevant to a torn UCL last year. And what do you know? He’s in the Super Bowl this year.

JOSON FITZ: Jori will be covering the 49ers all week, so be sure to check back with Yahoo Sports for the latest, greatest info.
