JASON FITZ: I’m shooketh. I am shaken to my core, because it wasn’t that long ago I was talking to Nate Tice on one of our shows and he was saying, man, I got Drake Maye as number one. And a couple of months ago I heard plenty of people saying, I got Drake Maye as number one.
And now I feel like the conversation’s only Caleb and Jayden, I’m not even hearing Drake Maye’s name bounced around as much. Like, what’s going on with Drake Maye right now?
CHARLES ROBINSON: I met with a personnel guy that has been on like very big Drake Maye supporter, like really believed in his talent. So I met with him, and I said, you know, I’m hearing just like a lot of negging of him right now.
Like, there’s a lot of– some people are questioning whether his deep accuracy is really that good at all. Some people are talking about, does he know how to throw with the proper velocity with shorter and intermediate throws. Is he really that good of an athlete? Like, just all kinds of stuff. I’m like, what is going on here?
And so we met and I asked him, I said, are you hearing this? And he said, yeah. And I’m like, is this real or is this bull-[BLEEP]? Like, is this CJ Stroud again? Are we doing this with– is this going to be a CJ Stroud thing? And he said, look, if you ask me, he’s like, I’d take him. I’d take him one.
And he’s like, and I feel like I would not be surprised at all if we go through all this crap and then come April, the second pick in the draft is Drake Maye, you know. But he said he’s heard it. And he’s heard, he’s had debates with like other personnel people and he’s heard…
