The Buffalo Bills are making several moves to get under the salary cap. The team is releasing veteran safety Jordan Poyer, CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones confirms — a move that will save the Bills $5.7 million in much-needed cap space. Buffalo also plans to restructure cornerback Rasul Douglas’ contract in order to save another $2.5 million against its cap, according to ESPN.
The Bills are also planning to release wide receiver and return specialist Deonte Harty and defensive back Siran Neal, who had a salary of nearly $3 million, per NFL Media. Buffalo is also reportedly releasing center Mitch Morse, who had a salary of $8.5 million in 2024.
The Bills entered Wednesday dead last among all 32 teams in terms of cap space, and still in the negative by about $19.7 million, according to Over The Cap. These are the first of several cuts and restructures the team will need to make in order to get on track with cap space before free agency begins March 13.
Before their releases and restructuring on Wednesday, they were negative $42.18 million in cap space and in one day have already decreased that number.
