The 2024 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 15, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take a sneak peak at the 272 games that will be the docket this year. Thanks to the NFL’s scheduling formula, we know who the 17 opponents will be for all 32 teams, so we’re going to go ahead and take a look at those.
Some of the biggest games on the 2024 schedule will include:
Each NFC team will be getting nine homes games this year, which means that conference will be hosting the majority of the international games. There will be a total of five international games in 2024 and we know the host team for four of those games: The Bears, Vikings, Jaguars will all be playing a home game in London while the Panthers will be hosting a home game in Germany (You can get the full details of the international games here).
With that in mind, let’s check out the 2024 home-and-away opponents for all 32 teams.
How it works
Here’s a brief explanation of the NFL scheduling formula, which was implemented in 2002 and revised in 2021 when the 17th game was added. Each team will play:
Home and away against its three division opponents (six games).
The four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating, three-year cycle (four games).
The four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating, four-year cycle (four games).
Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings (two games). These games match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in a conference are matched in the same way each year.
One interconference game based on the prior year’s standings on a rotating four-year cycle (one game). These games match a first-place team from one division against a first-place team in an opposite-conference division that the team is not scheduled…
