Clemson football’s season starts in less than 65 days, and quarterback Cade Klubnik is confident the Tigers will be prepared for 2024.
The junior is attending the Manning Passing Academy this weekend, one of the top offensive football camps in the country, at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and spoke with the Clarion Ledger’s David Eckert about the upcoming year.
Klubnik believes Clemson is in a “good spot” heading into the season.
“If we needed to change anything right now, we would be starting to change too late,” he said. “So, we started in January and changed what we needed to change and just been going to work.”
The Tigers (9-4) endured their share of mishaps last season after winning the fewest games since 2010, missing the ACC championship game and for the third straight year, the College Football Playoff. Klubnik says some changes made include better leadership and an improved mindset when experiencing adversity.
“When crap hits the fan, what’s gonna happen, but it’s also when great things happen, what’s gonna happen, how are you going to react?” Klubnik said. “That’s where you have to have great leadership because good leadership can handle one or the other, but great leadership can handle both.”
The Texas native says he has grown as a leader after building a better rapport with teammates this offseason. His skills on and off the field will be critical for the Tigers.

A major reason for Clemson’s struggles last season was the offense, which ranked 50th in the nation in scoring offense and total offense. Klubnik recorded 2,844 passing yards with 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his first season as a starter. He led the ACC in passing attempts and completions, but he made critical errors in clutch situations…
