Where Clemson, Dabo Swinney landed in EA Sports ‘College Football 25’ power rankings

CLEMSON — Does Clemson football have the roster to return to the College Football Playoff in 2024?

The rating adjustors behind EA Sports “College Football 25” think so.

After revealing the Tigers have an 87 overall on offense (No. 10 in the game) and a 90 on defense (No. 5) on Thursday, the gaming company unveiled Friday that Clemson has a 90 team overall, which ranks No. 6 in EA Sports’ initial top-25 power rankings.

Overalls are determined by players’ ratings on a team, which are the statistics that assess a player’s skill in the game and are measured on a scale from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest). The rankings reveal was the finale of a week-long marketing rollout that included details about “College Football 25,” which will be released July 19, marking the game’s first appearance since 2013.

Despite questions revolving around Clemson’s offense and the lack of transfer portal players, the Tigers are the only ACC team ranked in the top 10. Individual player ratings have not been announced, but EA Sports believes coach Dabo Swinney’s team can return to national prominence after missing the College Football Playoff for three straight seasons.

Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama and Texas are the only schools ahead of the Tigers in the rankings. Florida State (No. 12), Miami (No. 13), Virginia Tech (No. 20) and NC State (No. 21) are the other ACC schools to make the top-25 list.

Clemson will begin its season against Georgia on Saturday, Aug. 31 (ABC, noon ET) in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
