Generals on the march: Riverside receivers Tae’Shaun Gelsey, Myles Kendrick pick colleges

Add one more SEC commitment and one for the Big Ten in Jacksonville’s 2025 recruiting class.

Riverside wide receiver Tae’shaun Gelsey announced his commitment to Florida football, while fellow wideout Myles Kendrick selected Indiana during Saturday’s commitment ceremony inside the school’s gym.

Donning a UF cap in front of a video screen displaying a message from Florida coach Billy Napier, the 6-4, 210-pound Gelsey selected the Gators ahead of Auburn, Kentucky, Tulane, UCF and Wake Forest.

“It was really the communication,” Gelsey said. “After the O.V. [official visit, at the end of May], knowing that they told me I’m a big priority to them, and them communicating throughout the recruitment process. It just made it a lot better.”

Gelsey said Florida’s coaching staff projects him primarily in a combination slot/tight end role.

Rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and a three-star by 247Sports and On3, Gelsey caught 48 passes for 859 yards and nine touchdowns in the Generals’ run to the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 2M playoffs.

Also a top performer on the basketball court, Gelsey averaged 13.3 points and 9.8 rebounds during the winter to earn All-First Coast recognition in both sports. He’s also earned winning reviews for his offseason work.

“I’m going to be playing in the biggest conference in college football and I’m going to get the best of the best,” Gelsey said. “That’s just going to make me better.”
