Lubbock-Cooper football’s Michael Dever flips commitment to Texas Tech

Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech football team got a special Independence Day treat.

Lubbock-Cooper receiver Michael Dever flipped his commitment to the Red Raiders, he announced on social media on Thursday. Dever had previously been committed to Colorado State.

Dever (6-foot-2, 175 pounds) had 40 receptions on 50 targets for 672 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Pirates as a junior. He also advanced to the Class 5A UIL state track & field meet in the high jump, placing sixth with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches.

Dever helps fill a void at receiver for Tech’s 2025 recruiting class. Isaiah Robertson out of Arlington announced earlier this week he had flipped his commitment to SMU after previously committing to Texas Tech back in November. Dever also had offers from the likes of North Texas and Memphis.

This continues the Woodrow-to-Texas Tech pipeline that has existed for a number of years. Most recently, offensive linemen Kaden Carr and Holton Hendrix have joined the Red Raiders in back-to-back recruiting classes after wrapping their high school careers at Lubbock-Cooper. The 2024 roster also features several players from area schools Coronado, Trinity Christian and Abernathy.

Dever is the sixth receiver and 18th player overall to commit for the 2025 class.
