Destrehan safety Jhase Thomas received late interest from LSU, only earning a scholarship offer in June, but the Tigers have made up for lost time in the weeks since.
Thomas is set to announce his commitment on Saturday between a list of finalists that includes Houston, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Colorado in addition to the Tigers. However, the in-state program seems like the clear team to beat now.
LSU has received multiple recent predictions to land Thomas, including a trio of projections from On3 and crystal balls from 247Sports. Further, LSU Country’s Zack Nagy is now also projecting that Thomas will commit to the Tigers on Saturday.
Thomas ranks as a three-star prospect outside the top 500 in both 247Sports and On3’s industry rankings. However, On3’s own rankings are the highest on him of any service, ranking him as a four-star and inside the top 300.
LSU is pushing for a top-five class in the cycle, and though Thomas wouldn’t move the needle a ton due to his ranking, it’s clear he’s a player the staff wants after getting in the mix late.
