Ohio State fans already have an idea of what the Buckeyes will look like in EA Sports College Football 25. But fans got a further preview into the Ohio State roster Thursday.
CBS Sports’ Josh Pate played as the Buckeyes during his preview of the new video game, which is set to release July 19.
With Ohio State, Pate said, fans will be able to use one of the highest-rated freshmen in the game.

On Ohio State’s No. 1-ranked defense, Pate said the Buckeyes have 10 players with at least an 85 rating. EA Sports previously announced ratings for safety Caleb Downs (95), defensive end Jack Sawyer (92), cornerback Denzel Burke (91) and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (91), who are each top-100 players in the game.
Pate also said Ohio State quarterback and Kansas State transfer Will Howard is an 85 overall and has “sneaky run ability.”
Ohio State’s eight top-100 players are the most of any school in the game: Downs, Sawyer, Burke, Williams, Egbuka running back Quinshon Judkins (95), running back TreVeyon Henderson (93) and offensive lineman Donovan Jackson (91) . Georgia and Alabama each have six top-100 players.
The Buckeyes have the fifth-best offense in the game at 89 overall, and are behind Georgia (94), Oregon (94), Alabama (91) and Texas (91).
The Buckeyes have the best defense in the video game at 96 overall, better than teams including Georgia (94), Oregon (90), Alabama (90) and Michigan (90).
EA Sports College Football 25 will be released July 19 on PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X|S.
