Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl secures Pac-12 tie-in for 2024 contest

At least one-half of the 2024 Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl will be filled with a Power 5 team after Friday’s announcement that the Pac-12 tie-in will remain for this year’s contest in Shreveport’s Independence Stadium.

Current or former Pac-12 members will be eligible for the 48th bowl including Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington.

“We appreciate the conferences and bowls all working together to bring this to fruition, as the best possible solution for everyone involved,” said I-Bowl executive director Missy Setters. “We look forward to hosting one of these outstanding teams in our game on Dec. 28, and once again showing them and their fans our southern hospitality.”

Texas Tech defeated California 34-14 in the 2023 I-Bowl.

According to Pac-12 officials, the league worked alongside the ACC, Big 12 Conference and Big Ten Conference to solidify affiliations with all of the Pac-12 bowl partners for 2024 and 2025 – including the I-Bowl. Each of the Pac-12’s bowl partners will continue its agreed-upon selection process among current and former Pac-12 football teams.

The 2025 bowl matchup of the Big 12 versus a Conference USA member remains unchanged according to bowl officials.

The bowl is slated for Saturday, Dec. 28 at 8:15 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. The ticket renewal process is underway, and fans have until July 31 to secure the seats they have purchased in the past. Tickets will go on sale to the public in August.
