4 things to know about Ohio State QB Will Howard before 2024 season

For his final season of collegiate eligibility, Will Howard is attempting to become Ohio State’s starting quarterback.

Howard spent four seasons at Kansas State and transferred to the Buckeyes in January. He shares an OSU quarterback room with Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, Air Noland and Lincoln Kienholz.

Howard will make his Ohio State debut at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 when the Buckeyes host Akron for the 2024 season opener.

Will Howard did not have an Ohio State recruiting offer

Howard was not seemingly on Ohio State’s shortlist in the 2020 recruiting class.

Howard was the No. 882 prospect in the country per 247Sports’ composite rankings and was the No. 33 pro-style quarterback in the class out of Downington West High School in Pennsylvania.

As a quarterback at Downingtown West High School, Howard threw 48 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. In his junior and senior seasons, he posted a 39-to-10 touchdown-to-interception ratio and averaged at least 180 passing yards per game.

Howard held offers from programs such as Cincinnati, Maryland, Kansas Rutgers and Toledo before he committed to Kansas State June 23, 2019.

In the 2020 class, Ohio State landed two four-star quarterbacks in C.J. Stroud and Jack Miller.
