Grayson Rigdon is going to do something many Texas high school football fans have been begging him to do — play 11-man football.
Considered by many to be the greatest Texas six-man football player of all time, Rigdon is transferring from Benjamin to Columbus, which plays at the Class 3A Division I ranks.
Cory Hogue of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football was the first to report Rigdon’s intentions to play at Columbus.

Rigdon has been named Class A Division II Player of the Year in each of his three high school seasons, leading Strawn to a state title in 2021 and winning state with Benjamin in 2022 and 2023.
He’s currently an Air Force commit and became the first six-man football player to ever receive a star rating from a recruiting site with Rivals naming him a two-star recruit.
Columbus is a Class 3A Division I program located 73 miles west of Houston. The Cardinals already feature Oklahoma State commit Adam Schobel at quarterback and is widely considered a top 10 program in 3A DI.
Now the Columbus coaching staff has the luxury of figuring out how Rigdon fits into their scheme, undoubtedly giving them another weapon for Schobel to utilize.
