Rivals250 DB Jontavius Wyman commits to Georgia

Georgia has been rolling on the recruiting trail this summer, and that momentum has carried over into the 2026 class.

Rivals250 defensive back Jontavius Wyman, one of the Peach State’s top rising juniors, has committed in-state to the Dawgs. Miami, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon, USC and Notre Dame were other contenders in the mix with Wyman, the No. 7-ranked safety in the country in 2026 out of Jonesboro (Ga.) High.

Staying home had serious appeal for the 6-foot-1, 175-pound playmaker from Georgia.

“Everything about Georgia fits me,” Wyman told Rivals. “I was born and raised in Georgia. It’s the place I feel I’m at my best. I love the culture, the coaches, the crowd, the facilities … The coaches always show love an are always texting to check up on me, and that’s real.”

“It was time to shut it down,” continued Wyman, the No. 130 overall player in the Rivals250 for next year’s class. “Georiga has been at the top and stayed there for a while and it feels like home every time I’m there. I have a great bond with the coaches. My mom does, too. There’s no better feeling than playing for the home state.”

The four-star safety was recruited heavily by secondary coaches Donte Williams and Travaris Robinson. Wyman was on campus in April and again in May, where he camped for the coaches and furthered his connections.

“The way the coaches showed love while I was there,” he started. “The bond I have with the coaches, how I fit in at the facility, and the feeling when I was there stood out.”

“They’re gonna put me in the right position to succeed — even after football,” Wyman explained. “I can get my degree and I feel like I’m in a very good spot as a player to make an instant impact as a freshman. Georgia will make me better as a player — and not only as a player but as a man, too.”
