Georgia goes international to bolster defensive line with commitment from German prospect

Georgia football is adding some international flavor to its roster in its 2025 recruiting class.

The Bulldogs landed a commitment from Jayden-Jamal “JJ” Hanne, a native of Berlin, Germany who is a rising senior in California.

The 6-foot-4 ½, 281-pound defensive lineman is entering his third season at Santa Margarita Catholic in Rancho Santa Margarita, about halfway between San Diego and Los Angeles.

He didn’t play football until arriving in the United States to play at Santa Margarita Catholic.

“Even though he was a developmental guy, he’s taking huge strides and gotten so much better,” Anthony Rouzier, his high school coach, told the Athens Banner-Herald. “He’s got an amazing mentality.”

Hanne’s announced his decision Monday afternoon On3’s Hayes Fawcett’s X account.

It came two days after Hanne gave his commitment to Georgia to become the 22nd pledge of this class.

The 3-star rated prospect chose the Bulldogs over Nebraska, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M.

Rouzier was college roommates at UMass with Brandon Collier, founder of PPI Recruits, which helps place international players at college football programs. Rouzier coached in Hamburg, Germany in 2017.

Hanne was playing soccer before taking up football. He worked out for Collier in hopes of going to the U.S. to play and go to school.

Collier takes an annual summer tour with prospects from overseas to mostly schools in the East.

Hanne visited Georgia on May 30 and Georgia offered a scholarship after he worked out with defensive line coach Tray Scott.

I am in California watching @JaydenHanne practice , a kid I placed from Germany 2 years ago and the kid is really impressive. This kid should be on EVERY school radar. I would be ok telling every DL Coach in the country to come see him live! pic.twitter.com/C8WRMqOUfl
