Rivals insider provides update on 2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams

.

No matter where Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked at the end of the year, first-year head coach Mike Elko deserves credit for assembling one heck of an inaugural cycle, which included landing 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet.

As the 2024 season looms, 5-star safety Jonah Williams, one of the highest-ranked prospects in the class, will announce his commitment on Monday, August 26. He will choose between USC, Texas, LSU, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

After taking an official visit to College Station on June 7, which was reportedly successful for both parties, the Oregon Ducks have been the fiercest competitors. Still, after fellow 5-star safety Trey McNutt committed to Oregon on Saturday afternoon, things have likely changed regarding Williams’ collegiate future.

Providing the latest update on Williams, Rivals insider Landyn Rosow stated on his new AggieYell podcats that after submitting his own prediction to land with the Texas A&M back in May, he still believes that Elko and his staff should feel confident heading into August 24th.

Rosow also stated that LSU and Texas are the primary competitors, but Oregon, despite landing McNutt, is still expected to pursue the same aggression.

Jonah Williams recorded 474 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), four tackles for loss, and four punt return touchdowns on special teams during his 2023 junior season.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 7th-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked linebacker prospect, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Texas.
