Here are southwest Missouri’s new high school football coaches in 2024

The coaching carousel across southwest Missouri high school football this offseason saw familiar names move into different head coaching roles in the area.

Here are the new head coaches at their respective schools.

Travis Cagle – Reeds Spring

Cagle takes over the Wolves football program upon Andy McFarland’s departure to take over as Willard’s head coach. Cagle has been Reeds Spring’s defensive coordinator for the past two years, which includes the 2022 defense that led the Wolves to a state runner-up finish.

Sean Kelley – Skyline

Former Skyline football standout will now coach his alma mater after serving as the team’s assistant. Kelley played college ball at Southwest Baptist.

Eddie Long – El Dorado Springs

Long was promoted to El Dorado Springs’ head coach after serving on Lamar’s coaching staff for the last four years. He spent three years on El Dorado Springs’ staff previously. He’s a 2003 El Dorado Springs graduate.

Ben Mauk – Monett

Glendale’s former offensive coordinator will get his first crack as a head coach, taking over the Big 8 program. Mauk, under his father, former Glendale head coach Mike Mauk who was dismissed in the weeks before last season, will bring the Falcons’ high-octane passing attack to the Cubs.

Andy McFarland – Willard

McFarland built the Forsyth program up before he successfully built Reeds Spring into one of the top programs in the area. He now enters the Central Ozark Conference as Willard’s next head coach after Frank Tristan departed to lead his alma mater at Glendale.

Matt McKee – Diamond

McKee was promoted to Diamond’s head coaching position after serving as the school’s athletics director and defensive coordinator. He previously was the head coach at Liberal.
