The 2024 college football season is set to kick off later this month, and you can feel a buzz in the air on the Forty Acres. The Texas Longhorns are coming off of a Big-12 Championship and College Football Playoff berth a season ago, but their path to the playoffs will be much tougher in 2024 as the Longhorns transition to the SEC.

The Longhorns have one of the best rosters in America behind third-year starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and one of the best coaches in America in Steve Sarkisian. However, with a road trip to the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines in Week 2 and a visit from the preseason No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in Week 8, Texas has their work cut out for them.

Entering this upcoming season, the Longhorns were voted No. 4 in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll behind only the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks. The Dawgs dominated the ranking with 46 of 54 possible first-place votes, but the Longhorns also earned one vote for the top spot. In total, Texas has four preseason top-25 teams on the schedule.
