Ranking Big Ten football coaches heading into 2024

College football games are won by the Jimmys and Joes, but they are also won by the Xs and Os. Combine them both and special things can happen.

When it comes to the Big Ten, there are some of the best head coaches in the game and the men driving each ship in the conference can mean the difference between a good program, a very good program, and an elite program (right, James Franklin?).

As we enter this fall, there are four new teams joining the Big Ten, meaning coaches of Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington add four new coaches and four more personalities to the fray. But how does the landscape and power of those coaches stack up as thing get cranking in 2024?

Who is on top? Is it Ryan Day from Ohio State, Dan Lanning from Oregon? What about James Franklin at Penn State and new head coach Sherrone Moore of Michigan? We’ve got our opinions nad we’ll gladly opine on them now.

Here’s a look at a power ranking of Big Ten football coaches from the bottom to the top for this upcoming season.

Why the Ranking

Foster is going to have to work on the car while he’s driving it as a new head coach with little experience. He is inheriting a team that has a ways to go, and the UCLA administration might have to have some patience in allowing him to grow.
