In somewhat of a surprise move on August 7, Top 75 recruit DJ Sanders shook up the recruiting world by choosing Texas A&M over teams like Texas and Michigan. One of the worries about the hiring of Mike Elko would be if he could recruit good enough to have a competitive team in the SEC. So far, he’s checked that box by having a strong transfer class leading into the 2024 season and currently ranked 6th in 247Sports 2025 recruiting class.

The four-star defensive lineman the No. 6 DL per On3 and will bolster an already stout defensive front. Outside of regularly being one of the best players on the field he is also one of the humblest according to his high school coach.

“He’s not a big-time talker. He doesn’t take it for granted. He’s not one I have to worry about getting a big head. A lot of times, when you have four- and five-star guys, you worry about them getting a big head, not play for the team. That’s the furthest thing away from him. That’s just not him. He’s just a good kid.”
