Pennsylvania high school products Nick Dawkins and Dominic DeLuca are among the six Penn State football players that have been selected team captains, it was announced Saturday.
Dawkins, a fifth-year senior from Parkland, and DeLuca, a fourth-year junior from Wyoming Area, were named along with quarterback Drew Allar, linebacker Kobe King, safety KJ Winston and punter Riley Thompson.
Dawkins is the leading candidate to start at center for the Nittany Lions. DeLuca, a team captain for the second straight season, is an outstanding special-teams player and is competing to start at outside linebacker.
Penn State opens its season Aug. 31 at West Virginia at noon.
