Vote for Nashville area’s top defensive player going into 2024 TSSAA football season

The 2024 Tennessee high school football season begins Friday, with the top Nashville area stars set to take the field.

All of them are chasing a TSSAA football state championship, which requires a stout defense. So, who’s the best Nashville area defensive player entering the year?

Brenden Anes, Page: The Wisconsin commit helped guide Page to a third straight Class 5A state championship game last year. He had 102 tackles, six sacks, three interceptions and two defensive TDs.

Atticus Fiorita, Mt. Juliet: Fiorita led all Nashville-area defensive linemen with 17 sacks to go along with 30.5 tackles for loss and 80 total tackles. He has offers from Arkansas State, MTSU, Eastern Kentucky, Samford and Princeton.

Kyler Garcia, Pearl-Cohn: Garcia, a Indiana commit, finished with 55 tackles with 13 for a loss and four sacks as the Firebirds captured the 4A state championship last year, the school’s first football title since 1997. Garcia’s college offers include Arkansas State, Ball State, Indiana, Memphis, Purdue and Vanderbilt.

Zach Groves, East Robertson: Groves, a 6-4, 230-pound defensive lineman, helped East Robertson reach its first TSSAA Class 2A state championship game last season after recording 72 tackles with 28 for loss, nine forced fumbles, and eight sacks. The four-star edge rusher is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in Tennessee for the 2026 class and holds offers from Tennessee, Purdue, Vanderbilt, NC State, UAB, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and Kentucky.

Jhrevious Hall, Columbia: Hall, an Indiana commitment, tallied 40 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks last season. He had four forced fumbles and a defensive TD. The three-star athlete is the No. 28-ranked prospect in Tennessee and has offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Louisville, Ole Miss, Missouri, Duke and Georgia…
