NFL draft 2025: Texas football enters season with third-most NFL talent, per ESPN

Texas football had 11 players make the jump from college to the NFL last year, with Byron Murphy II being the highest-drafted Longhorn.

It was a program record, one that they’ll be hoping to surpass in the next 2025 NFL draft, April 24-26 in Green Bay. According to ESPN, the Longhorns have a chance to do that, with 11 projected picks, the third-most of any college program.

Who will be this year’s Murphy or T’Vondre Sweat? Sweat and Murphy were relatively unknown prior to the 2023 season — then went on to become one of the best defensive tackle duos in the country. Now they’re playing on Sundays.

Here’s what ESPN analyst Jordan Reid had to say about the three programs with the most NFL talent heading into the 2024 college football season:

Texas football projected to have nearly a dozen 2024 NFL draft picks

The Longhorns’ 2025 draft class is spearheaded by Kelvin Banks Jr., one of the best offensive tackles in all of college football. Reid had high praise for him, predicting that he’ll be drafted among the top 10 picks in the upcoming draft.

He’d be the first offensive lineman taken in the first round since 2002.

“Banks has allowed only 12 pressures and two sacks in two seasons and is one of the most impressive pass protectors in the country. He is a physical road grader who creates clear running lanes reminiscent of what Ikem Ekonwu, the No. 6 pick in the 2022 draft, did at NC State,” Reid said.
