Oklahoma football recruiting: Five-star OT Michael Fasusi commits to Sooners over Red River rival Texas

Oklahoma landed a massive addition for its 2025 recruiting class Wednesday when five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi announced his commitment to the Sooners over a group of high-profile finalists that included rival Texas. Ranked the No. 27 overall prospect in the class by 247Sports, Fasusi also considered Missouri, Oregon and Texas A&M before revealing his pledge to the Sooners.

Fasusi ranks as the No. 5 offensive tackle and the No. 8 overall prospect from the talent-rich state of Texas for the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports. The rangy, 6-foot-5 lineman is entering his senior season at Lewisville High School, which is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Luring such a coveted prospect away from in-state brands such as Texas and Texas A&M is a big win for the Sooners and third-year coach Brent Venables. Fasusi is the program’s first five-star commitment of the cycle and brings OU’s tally to 23 players.
