These twins have seen it all with the Southeastern football. Now they want to keep winning

They wouldn’t exactly call it twin telepathy, but Southeastern football players and twin brothers Zach and Sean Pechulis say they think alike in most situations.

In some cases, they say the same thing in conversation or finish the other’s sentences before turning to each other and laughing.

Even on the field, they sometimes find each other in the same spot on a play, for better or worse.

“It won’t be communicated but he (Sean) will fill this gap and I’ll fill this gap and we’ll come in and sandwich on the guy running the ball,” said Zach Pechulis. “It could just be a coincidence but it’s pretty cool to think about.”

Zach Pechulis, running back for Southeastern, carries the ball on a counter running play during practice on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Both Sean and Zach, natives of East Bridgewater, have been four-year starters on the varsity team at Southeastern. Zach has played linebacker for the last several seasons and made an impact on the offensive side as a runner.

Meanwhile Sean has been a stalwart on both the offensive and defensive lines for multiple seasons.

The two started youth football together in second grade, even lining up next to each other on the offensive line, with Sean playing right guard and Zach playing right tackle.

Sean recalled at one point wanting to quit football at a younger age, but realized he would miss out on a special opportunity with Zach.

“I was one of the kids that didn’t understand that this was going to be hard. That changed and I realized, ‘Hey, I could be doing this with my brother.’ It’s just a really fun thing to do.”

It’s been a roller coaster first three years at Southeastern for the brothers, as they described it, but the twins are entering their final season…
