USC’s top ‘freak athlete’ targets for 2025 class

The high school football season kicked off last weekend but fully kicks into high gear this weekend with the annual Geico ESPN High School Football Showcase, which runs Friday through Sunday. With the sport in the national spotlight, 247Sports released another annual 2025-freaks-list/ a play on Bruce Feldman‘s annual must-read Freaks List in The Athletic.

Now is the perfect time to dive into the Freaks List for high school prospects, this year focusing on USC prospects in the 2025 class. The Trojans need the kinds of players who do special things. This is what they had during the Pete Carroll dynasty, a reality which has been recalled by Pete Carroll returning to USC as a professor who will teach a course at the school. Reggie Bush, Brian Cushing, Shaun Cody, Rey Maualuga, the list goes on and on for USC players who had freak-level athletic ability and were outrageously entertaining on the field. Here’s a look at players of the future who might be able to be dynamic in Cardinal and Gold:

1. Jonah Williams

Williams was at Oregon this past weekend & mentioned he had a great time on the visit learning a lot of new things about the program & the development .

A 6-foot-3, 205-pound four-sport athlete, the five star recruit and USC Trojans target is one of the first prospects who legitimately has a chance to emerge as a first-round pick in the NFL draft and MLB draft since Kyler Murray back in 2018.

Williams resume is simply one-of-a-kind, he had 117 tackles on defense to go along with 800 yards of total offense and 8 touchdowns. On the diamond he was an all-state player for Galveston in Texas, throwing 97mph.
