Kentucky football, after finishing last season 7-6, kicks off its 2024 campaign against Southern Mississippi on Saturday at Kroger Field.
Transfer portal additions are expected to play key roles for Mark Stoops’ Kentucky Wildcats in the first year of the expanded SEC.
Brock Vandagriff will start at quarterback after spending the last three years as a backup at Georgia. Former North Texas wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin will be paired up with Dane Key, who led the Wildcats in receiving yards last year. Maclin caught 57 passes last season at North Texas for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Another Georgia transfer, Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Sr., will strengthen the Wildcats’ linebacker corps after Trevin Wallace’s departure for the NFL draft.
