The start of Rutgers football season is finally here.
The Scarlet Knights open up their 2024 campaign today against Howard at 6 p.m. at SHI Stadium, their first game of what could be a memorable season if things break right for Greg Schiano’s team.
After going 7-6 last season, including a Pinstripe Bowl win over Miami, Rutgers returns a stud running back in Kyle Monangai, who led the Big Ten in rushing last season, the bulk of a stellar defense (though it’s going to be without linebacker Mohamed Toure for the season due to a torn ACL) and brought in quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, who transferred from Minnesota and won the starting job following spring practices.
So the Scarlet Knights have the pieces in place.
