ASU football coach Kenny Dillingham slams team after practice: ‘We’re still a nobody’

The ASU football team turned some heads with its dominating Week 1 win Saturday, with the Sun Devils getting praised for their 48-7 dismantling of Wyoming.

ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham blasted his team’s effort after practice, sounding off on the lack of effort, which he called “embarrassing.”

“Yeah, today our kids thought that they won the Super Bowl on Saturday,” Dillingham told reporters. “They came out here acting like we’re undefeated, good football team. We’re practicing (like) a 1-11 team today. Now, luckily, they responded the last six periods and we had a really, really good ending of practice, but that was a 1-11 practice for about an hour and a half. It was pretty embarrassing.”

ASU football coach Kenny Dillingham: ‘What the hell are we doing?’

He slammed his team for getting comfortable after the win against Wyoming.

“People feel really good about themselves,” Dillingham told the media Tuesday. “All y’all writing really good things and posting all these stats we’re No. 1 defense in America through one week. What kind of stat is that?  Right. We’re this, we’re that, look at all this really cool stuff. Oh, we’re now the 14th-worst team in the Big 12. Like what the hell are we doing? And we got comfortable and I’m trying to prevent that…
