Why Steve Sarkisian, Texas football remind one analyst of Nick Saban and Alabama

Texas football will step foot into the Big House on Saturday as the favorites vs. the reigning national champions, Michigan.

Week 1 of college football provided only a glimpse of what teams look like. Regardless, Texas’ win over Colorado State and its 2023 playoff run has Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt seeing flashes of crimson, red and black in Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns.

What did Joel Klatt say about Texas football?

“I’m not as concerned about Michigan’s offense as some. You know what I’m concerned about? Texas’ speed. Texas looks like how Alabama has looked, how Georgia has looked,” Klatt said in an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”

Texas had two of the fastest receivers in college last season, with Adonai Mitchell running a 4.35 40-yard dash and Xavier Worthy breaking the NFL combine record at 4.21. They generated 1,859 yards and 16 touchdowns with the Longhorns, but there were questions about how they’d be replaced.

Enter Alabama transfer Isaiah Bond, Houston transfer Matthew Golden, five-star freshman Ryan Wingo and Silas Bolden. So what do they all have in common (besides their slender builds)? Speed.
