ESPN college football analyst Rece Davis ranked the top 10 college football following Week 1 of the 2024 season. Davis ranks the Georgia Bulldogs as his No. 1 team.
Davis is a voter in the Associated Press poll. His top 25 ballot gives a lot of respect to teams that faced challenging competition in Week 1. Georgia’s 34-3 win over Clemson is a big reason why Davis continues to rank the Bulldogs No. 1.
Davis elevated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to No. 4 in his rankings after the Fighting Irish picked up an impressive road win at Texas A&M. Penn State’s road win over West Virginia helped the Nittany Lions claim a top five spot in Davis’ rankings. The ESPN college football expert also rewarded Miami for winning at Florida in dominant fashion and USC for defeating a talented LSU team.
Davis dropped Oregon in his rankings after the Ducks had a rough showing against Idaho. Davis remains lower than most on the Alabama Crimson Tide. He ranks Alabama eighth and has four total SEC teams in his top 10.
