Coming off their impressive Week 1 win against LSU, the USC Trojans will host the Utah State Aggies on Saturday night. USC has already scored a strong resume win as it heads into its home opener.
In one of last week’s marquee matchups, USC went to Las Vegas for a top-25 clash against LSU. The Trojans were able to pull out a thrilling 27-20 win 27-20 and that could serve as a good jumpstart to their season. Quarterback Miller Moss was one of that game’s biggest stories. He carved up LSU’s defense, throwing for 378 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his attempts.
The USC defense did give up 421 yards to the Tigers, but the Trojan defense refused to break in the red zone and held LSU to just 20 points on the night.
Utah State had a significantly easier start to its 2024 campaign. The Aggies took on Robert Morris and scored a comfortable 36-14 win last week. Utah State’s offense had no problem moving the football whatsoever. Not only did quarterbacks Bryson Barnes and Spencer Petras combine for 343 passing yards, but the team also piled up 303 rushing yards.
The issue for the Aggies was that they turned the ball over three times, all interceptions. They’ll need to take better care of the football if they want any shot at upsetting USC.
