Brandon Buckhaulter injury update: UAB WR takes scary hit to head without helmet, stretchered off

UAB football wide receiver Brandon Buckhaulter was stretchered off the field against Arkansas during the teams’ college football game on Saturday.

Buckhaulter went down with less than five minutes remaining in the first half of a 17-17 game between the Blazers and Razorbacks from Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. On the play, which resulted in the injury, Buckhaulter caught a pass and turned upfield. Arkansas’ Xavian Sorey Jr. ripped off Buckhaulter’s helmet, and then linebacker Landon Jackson hit Buckhaulter on the side of his head.

Sorey was called for a facemask penalty on the play; no targeting was called against Jackson.

Buckhaulter was stretchered off the field following a hit to his helmet-less head by Jackson late in the second quarter.

According to UAB radio sideline reporter Landrum Roberts, Buckhaulter has movement in all extremities.
