Notre Dame freshman safety Kennedy Urlacher, Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher’s son, popped in Saturday’s 66-7 win at Purdue. During the Fighting Irish’s blowout of the Boilermakers on CBS, the 5-foot-11, 197-pounder debuted by totaling three tackles and one pass breakup en route to being PFF College’s highest-graded true freshman safety for Week 3 with an 86.2 rating.

247Sports took note, including Urlacher among Week 3’s top true freshmen.

Notre Dame’s depth chart entering the game, as Irish Illustrated noted, lists Urlacher as a co-backup left safety.

From Chandler (Ariz.) High, Urlacher — a three-star prospect with an 87 rating — was the No. 91 safety and No. 19 player in Arizona for the 2024 recruiting class.

He announced his commitment to Notre Dame in May 2023, picking the Irish over a handful of fellow finalists — Kansas State, Miami, Penn State and TCU — among 20 offers.

“I’m a physical player,” Urlacher told 247Sports’ Tom Loy. “I’m hard working. I will bring a good mindset to the team on the next level.”
