Big news continues to flow in from USC’s upcoming Big Ten football opponents. The Trojans learned earlier on Monday that Michigan was making a change of its starting quarterback. Later on Monday, the Trojans learned that their Sept. 28 opponent, the Wisconsin Badgers, have lost their starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Tyler Van Dyke is out for the year, due to an injury sustained against Alabama this past Saturday. This Wisconsin quarterback injury is significant because, if you watched the Wisconsin-Alabama game, the Badgers weren’t nearly as dangerous or effective on offense with Braedyn Locke on the field as Tyler Van Dyke’s replacement. “BadgerExtra’s Colten Bartholomew was first on the news that Van Dyke suffered a torn ACL in his right leg. ESPN’s Pete Thamel and others have since confirmed the report.
“This news arrives two days after Wisconsin fell 42-10 to No. 4 Alabama at Camp Randall Stadium. Van Dyke, three games into his first year as a Badger, suffered the injury while being tackled to the turf on a third down sequence during UW’s opening offensive drive. Shortly thereafter, Van Dyke departed to the locker room and returned to the field equipped with crutches and a brace. Wisconsin will now turn to redshirt sophomore quarterback Braedyn Locke for the rest of the 2024 campaign.”
Let’s give you some details on Braedyn Locke, noting that Wisconsin fans are thinking about Locke’s backup as a possible option. Whether that is realistic remains to be seen when the Badgers visit the Los Angeles Coliseum to play USC on Sept. 28:
