FSU football predictions, odds: Will losing streak end vs Cal? Experts make their picks

The losing skid has to end soon, right? The Florida State football team certainly hopes their first win comes Saturday when California comes to Tallahassee.

This game feels all kinds of weird, starting with it now being an ACC game. FSU comes in 0-3 after another bad loss to Memphis, one in which the Seminoles were held under 250 total yards. Fans are calling for a quarterback change to Brock Glenn after DJ Uiagalelei has thrown just one touchdown pass in three games, and some are even calling for coach Mike Norvell to be fired a year after FSU started 13-0.

Cal, on the other hand, is off to a 3-0 start after beating San Diego State 31-10. Coach Justin Wilcox has the third-best defense in the ACC, allowing 12.3 points per game. The Golden Bears’ offense has been more pedestrian, though, with quarterback Fernando Mendoza averaging under 200 yards per game and running back Jaivian Thomas averaging just over 80 ypg. All-Pac-12 rusher Jadyn Ott leads the team with two touchdowns.

JD McCarthy writes: “Frankly, Cal should be favored in this game as the Seminoles have done little to justify being favored against a conference opponent, especially one that has already picked up one road win on the season.
