No one can brag about having more national championships on most stages than former Alabama football coach Nick Saban.
However, that was not the case with Saban and ESPN’s “College GameDay” visiting Norman for the top-15 SEC matchup between No. 13 Oklahoma and No. 7 Tennessee. Sooners softball coach Patty Gasso and Saban shared a stage ahead of the hyped matchup. Host Jess Sims asked Saban “how many national championships” he had, to which he responded seven (six with Alabama and one with LSU).

She then asked Gasso how many she had, to which the legendary Oklahoma coach responded, “Eight.” Gasso shrugged her shoulders and walked over to Saban to hug him. Sims pointed out the obvious fact that Gasso — ever humble — did not want to upstage the legendary Alabama football coach as she showed her respect for him.
“College GameDay” then showed the clip of Saban, Pat McAfee and Sims taking batting practice with Oklahoma softball. Gasso and Saban also spent time praising each other’s accomplishments, as ESPN showed a side-by-side of statues outside of their teams’ respective stadiums in Norman and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Gasso has led the Sooners to four straight national championships. Saban, who won back-to-back championships in 2011-12, asked Gasso what the secret sauce was to win more than two in a row, to which Gasso jokingly responded she couldn’t divulge her secrets.
