Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule met with the media on Monday afternoon. The Huskers are looking to rebound after a 31-24 overtime loss to Illinois last Friday.

Coach Rhule disclosed several important pieces of information during his media availability. The first is that offensive lineman Turner Corcoran’s hamstring injury is more significant than initially thought.

The head coach also discussed the hiring of former Husker kicker Brett Maher. Maher will assist Special Teams Coach Ed Foley in working with the young kicking corps. Nebraska kickers are perfect on extra points this season, going 16-for-16 but only 4-for-6 on field goal attempts.

The Fremont, Nebraska native kicked for the Cornhuskers from 2008-2012. In 27 career games, Maher made 102-of-103 extra points and was 39-of-50 in field goals. He was named the Big Ten Kicker of the Year for 2011 and 2012.

Nebraska now travels to West Lafayette to face the Purdue Boilermakers. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT, and the game can be seen on Peacock.
