Jets QB Aaron Rodgers ‘fine’ after getting ‘banged up’ in loss to Broncos

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is “fine” after appearing to sustain an injury to his left leg in the fourth quarter of New York’s 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, head coach Robert Saleh said.

“He’s fine, probably just a little wear and tear from the football game,” Saleh said after the game.

Rodgers – who was sacked five times and hit nine other times in the loss – said he got “banged up a little bit,” but said he was ok.

“I got some stuff with both legs,” Rodgers added. “Get in the hot tub here in a little bit.”

The incident that appeared to first cause the injury to his left leg – the same leg that he sustained a torn Achilles on the fourth play of last season – when Rodgers was sacked on a 3rd-and-2 sack with five minutes to play. Jonah Elliss and Malcolm Roach tackled the QB from behind and Rodgers’ left ankle appeared to get caught underneath the two defenders’ body.

The 40-year-old took a bit of time getting up and walked gingerly to the sideline.

Rodgers did not miss any time, but team trainers were seen working on his left leg (near the calf) and he appeared to be limping during the final two possessions of the game.

Rodgers finished the day throwing for 225 yards on 25-for-42 passes (5.4 yards per attempt). He ran for 26 yards on five carries.

However, after that sack, he did not run and completed just 4 of 9 attempts for 26 yards with a sack.

“I think we were kinda killing ourselves.,” Rodgers said. I can’t say I had a spectacular game, I missed some throws. The weather sucked, but so did some of my throws.

“We had some chances. But way too many mental mistakes, too many poor throws and then we just missed some easy stuff, some protection stuff that should have been easy, some route adjustment stuff that shoulda been easy.”
