UTEP vs Sam Houston State prediction, picks, odds: Who wins Week 6 college football game?

UTEP is finding its first win of the season to be elusive and it will take another swing at that when it takes on Sam Houston State Thursday in the Sun Bowl.

This is a matchup between the newest team in Conference USA and the oldest, and also the first game UTEP is going to play as a lame duck member as it just announced its move to the Mountain West.

Sam Houston has vastly improved in its second year of FBS football and comes in to this game with a 4-1 record after an upset of Texas State. The Bearkats are now a 10 1/2-point favorite against a team it might have been considered an underdog against before the season began.

Jevon Jackson (4) of UTEP celebrates scoring the first touchdown of the game against Southern Utah in the first quarter of their game at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas on Sept. 7, 2024.
