Michigan State football injuries: Spartans get WR Nick Marsh back, plus more good news

EUGENE, Ore. − Nick Marsh is back. But there’s more good news for the Spartans.

Left tackle Stanton Ramil is also off the injury report, putting Michigan State football as close to full strength as it can get going into Friday night’s showdown at No. 6 Oregon.

Marsh, the Big Ten and national freshman of the week after the Spartans’ win at Maryland on Sept. 7, missed the Boston College loss and played just one drive in Saturday’s 38-7 loss to Ohio State. The wide receiver had two catches for 20 yards before remaining on the sidelines.

Michigan State Spartans wide receiver Nick Marsh (6) warms up before the NCAA football game against Ohio State University at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024.

Ramil, a redshirt freshman who made his first collegiate start at left tackle in the 23-19 loss to the Eagles on Sept. 21, went through warmups before the game against the Buckeyes but did not play. MSU started Rakeem Johnson at left tackle and alternated with fellow true freshman Rustin Young at that position.

The lone player listed as questionable for the Spartans is starting linebacker Jordan Hall. Others who remain out are tight end Michael Masunas, wide receivers Antonio Gates Jr. and Alante Brown, cornerbacks Ade Willie and Chance Rucker and defensive back Dillon Tatum.

Three other players who got hurt against the Buckeyes – defensive tackle Maverick Hansen, safety Malik Spencer and nickelback Angelo Grose – are not listed on either injured list for the 9 p.m. kickoff between MSU (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) and the Ducks (4-0, 1-0), who are hosting their first conference game since joining the league.
