Dripping Springs (5-1, 2-0) led 14-0 after the first quarter and 42-7 at halftime. Tigers coach Galen Zimmerman substituted players on both sides of the football in the second half. The only bright spot for Austin High (3-3, 1-1) was running back Bryson Batts, who rushed for 113 yards and had an 80-yard scamper called back by a holding penalty.

“I hope (the defense) is proud,” Zimmerman said. “It’s hard to win on Friday nights. I don’t care who we’re playing. I thought we were a little flat tonight but we executed what we needed to.”

Maher was the early leader but he would get plenty of help from his teammates. Running back Jack Tyndall rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Receivers Cooper Reid and Nick Tyndall combined for 165 yards through the air.

Austin High’s lone touchdown was an 80-yard run by quarterback Logan Davis early in the second quarter.
