CAMDEN — Logan Hewitt threw a go-ahead touchdown pass in the second half and later ran for two scores Saturday as the Central Valley Academy Thunder defeated Camden’s Blue Devils 34-21 for their first win in Class B East play.
Camden (0-5, 0-2 B East) led 14-12 at halftime. The Blue Devils had the ball to start the second half and turned it over on downs after opting not to punt. Central Valley Academy (2-3, 1-1 B East) drove down the field and had a first down at the Camden 7. Following a short run by Logan Hewitt, quarterback Nolan Tutty ran four yards to the end zone, but the play was negated by a holding penalty

Two plays later, Hewitt threw a nine-yard halfback option pass to Lincoln Lynch who was open in the end zone and caught the pass on his knees to give the Thunder the lead. Hewitt ran for the conversion and a 20-14 lead.
The touchdown left Camden with less than two minutes on the third quarter clock, and the Blue Devils punted on the first play of the fourth. The short kick went out of bounds at the Camden 38. Cal Jaquays ran for 10 yards on the first play, and Hewitt went 11 for the touchdown three plays later, adding the two-point conversion for a 14-point lead.
Camden got one touchdown back on a 23-yard pass from Adam Gonzalez to Isaac Lynch, capping a drive that featured a 20-yard Gonzalez-to-Lynch-to-Caden Grygiel hook-and-ladder play.
