Vote for the Varsity 845 football players of the week for Oct. 4-5

The Varsity 845 football players of the week polls are online for Oct. 4-5. There will be voting in the large- and small-school divisions.

Information was utilized on reports to Varsity 845. Coaches are encouraged to provide their game reports in order for athletes to be chosen; they may also nominate one player from their team by Sunday afternoon.

One player per team is eligible each week. Previous winners will be ineligible until the start of postseason play.

Go to RecordOnline.com/sports/high-school and vote as often as you like until Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 p.m. The winners will be announced each week on the @Varsity845 account on X/Twitter. Jordan Bishop of Cornwall (large) and Josh Fiorello of Burke Catholic won last week. Two weeks ago, Brennan Tesseyman of Washingtonville (large) and Justin Mazzie of Burke Catholic (small) won the fan votes. Three weeks ago,  Plexico Brooks of Pine Bush (large) and Liam Gralton of Burke Catholic (small) won.

Varsity 845 Football Player of the Week (large)

Zack Filip, Minisink Valley

Ethan Maldonado, Monroe-Woodbury

He completed 13 of 26 throws for 129 yards as the Dragons nipped Middletown 17-12 on Friday.
