Kansas State football vs Colorado: Scouting report, prediction for Saturday night’s game

The road has not been particularly kind to Kansas State football so far this season, but the Wildcats have a chance to reverse that trend Saturday when they take on Colorado in another key Big 12 matchup against the Buffaloes in Boulder.

Kickoff is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. central time as the No. 19-ranked Wildcats (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) try to keep pace with a Colorado team (4-1, 2-0) that is off to a hot start in the conference. Both teams were off last week.

K-State has been dominant at home this season, including a 48-20 blowout of Oklahoma State two weeks ago, but has struggled on the road. The Wildcats needed a fourth-quarter defensive touchdown and a goal line stand at the end to edge Tulane in New Orleans, and then struggled mightily in a 38-9 blowout loss at Brigham Young.

Colorado, picked 11th in the Big 12 preseason poll, has won three straight, including an impressive 48-21 blowout of Central Florida two weeks ago on the road. The Buffaloes also beat Baylor at home to open league play.

After his team struggled in a 9:30 p.m. start at BYU, K-State coach Chris Klieman said the Wildcats will tweak their schedule leading up to the game in hopes of having the Wildcats operating at peak efficiency by kickoff.
