Brighton senior Sebastian Boyea set a Livingston County record for receiving yards in a game Friday night in the Bulldogs’ wild 49-48 victory over Plymouth.
Boyea caught 10 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns, giving him 34 catches for 678 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
He broke the county mark of 233 yards set by Brighton’s Jim Reese, who accumulated those yards with only five catches in a first-round playoff victory over Grand Ledge on Oct. 29, 1999.
The trigger man for Boyea’s record night almost set a county mark of his own.
Senior quarterback Lawrence Wells was 16-for-21 for 383 yards and four touchdowns, throwing for the second-highest total in county history. The county mark was also set in the 1999 playoff game against Grand Ledge when Cullen Finnerty threw for 450 yards.
Boyea caught touchdown passes of 30, 13 and 45 yards in the first half. Brighton sophomore Jayden Ciponaer opened the scoring with a 50-yard touchdown catch.

Wells and Boyea helped Brighton overcome an amazing statistical night by Plymouth quarterback Logan Pheiffer, a former receiver who ran 23 times for 302 yards and four touchdowns.

Pheiffer had touchdown runs of 68 and 67 yards in the second half. He threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Soper to get the Wildcats within a point, but they missed the extra point.
Nate Stark ran 15 times for 121 yards, while Jackson Johnson ran 10 times for 80 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson’s 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter broke a 42-42 tie. Brighton held three 14-point leads.
